About Me

Here's a little Q&A to get to know me a better.

Why did you start blogging?

This is my third attempt of blogging. I'm going to go with the whole third times a charm thing and I hope I won't fizzle out and get so wrapped in life that I stop blogging. I need to find what works for me as a blogger and that's what part of this journey is about. The main part of this adventure deals with writing. I'm on a search to reclaim my creativity and this blog will serve as a journal of my ups and downs while I navigate, for the first time, through the behemoth that is NaNoWriMo. I also include book reviews, as after all, reading is my first true love.

What kind of books do you read?

I am a HUGE YA fan. I pretty much read anything that falls under YA but seem to be most drawn to fantasy, paranormal romance, dystopian, alternate historical and historical fiction. Also, I tend to read series of books as they make the great escape last much longer!

What kind of reviews do you do?

I save all of my analysis for writing and reviewing in school. My reviews are meant to be fun and a stress reliever so if a full blown literary analysis where symbolism, alliterations  and the such are discussed is what you're looking for, you're on the wrong blog. My reviews also tend to be a little lengthy but that's because I have a lot to share with all of you!

I am VERY picky about what I read. so I don't do as many reviews as other book bloggers but I like to keep in mid that it's about quality not quantity.

When did you start writing?

Honestly, now lol! I have always been good (at least I was told) at writing, however, I never thought of it as a hobby let alone something I would seriously consider doing as a career. In high school whenever I was assigned assignments in English class, I would always make up these stories to write about, so technically I unknowingly began writing in high school. it wasn't until lately, when I consciously began to toy with the idea of attempting to write. I have always enjoyed reading the magnificent stories I come across so I thought, "Why not try to come up with some of my own?" Any time I finish a book I continue the story by coming up with my own ideas. Now, I think, it's time to put all those crazy scenes, characters, and dialogue to paper.

How did you decide to take the BIG leap (to actually start writing)?

I jumped after I read the book Divergent by the genius Veronica Roth. Before I ever read any of her books, I lurked around her blog and really enjoyed how she shared her journey and advice with all her followers. After reading her books and realizing how close in age she was to me, it kind of hit me, "Maybe I can do this too!"

Were you ever scared to share your writing?

Technically, I have not shared my writing yet, but that will change soon!  I used to be scared (okay, I still am) of sharing my writing until I finally thought about it, "Do I want to be asking myself, what if, 50 years from now?" The answer was a loud and resounding "no." I figure, the best thing that can happen is that I'll write a great story and become published. The worse thing that can happen is that I'll never get published but at least I know I tried.

You're in graduate school and want to become a writer. Are you getting a degree in Creative Writing?

My master's degree is in education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. I was already enrolled in my program before I started thinking about writing/attempting to write and I, as said earlier, never considered it. Although I'm sure it would help improve my writing skills, I don't think I would want to do graduate school on something that serves as an escape for me.

Anything else?

Yes! My favorite color is purple, I LOVE food and YouTube, I have kids... 145 actually, I have a dog but I think I'm actually a cat person, I live at home with my mom (free rent and free food!) and that's all for now folks!
